Traffic Regulation Order Lead
About Us
Our Greenwich Plan sets out our vision for the next 4 years focusing on the changes we collectively want to see in our borough and Council. We want to become a more strategic, efficient and adaptive organisation, to deliver for our communities. Our workforce is key to making this happen.
Royal Greenwich is a borough synonymous with first class modern services. Our vibrant, diverse communities span Greenwich town centre in the west, to Thamesmead in the east, from the Greenwich Peninsula in the north to Eltham in the south. Royal Greenwich has a reputation for combining ambition with delivery. We are on a journey towards a low carbon future and the sustainability agenda will influence all areas of the Council’s work.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the Council’s ambitions for our future transport network, implement high-profile schemes and maintain a strong grip on the delivery of key projects.
To be successful in this post you will be as comfortable with strategy as you are with leading large operations. You will need to bring energy, tenacity and strong communication skills. You will thrive on data and evaluation to evidence and inform delivery and service improvements.
Above all, you’ll be committed to delivering an efficient, well-connected network that our residents love – with a carbon footprint that we can be proud of, as well as delivering the councils Transport Strategy.
About the Role
You will be accountable to the Parking Design Improvement Manager for the processing and delivery of the Councils traffic orders ensuring that the Council complies with the requirements of current legislation for all experimental, permanent, and temporary traffic management orders regulating moving and stationary traffic on the highway.
You will provide direct support to the Section Leader in the delivery of a high quality and effective service that achieves objectives set by the Directorate. You will be responsible for Parking & TRO’s which contribute to a section that delivers new traffic regulation orders to support the delivery of improvements to the highway network relating to parking, safety and enforcement.
You will ensure all traffic orders made under Traffic Regulation Order legislation are processed effectively, the use of road closures is maximised, appropriate permits are obtained, and all stakeholders and statutory consultees are informed.
The postholder will be required to co-ordinate and plan the availability of the highway for use by others by receiving, processing, and determining applications for Traffic Regulation Orders, including checking that diversion routes and all traffic management proposals have been agreed with all staff and relevant Highways, Traffic and Parking officers. You will provide technical and/or operational support for the delivery of an effective and quality service that complies with statutory, Council requirements and legislation.
